Ironically, that’s where most of the money already went. Businesses cut staffing to the bone over the last three decades & invested in tech as birth rates & immigration dropped. Now labor is highly productive AND underpaid AND getting scarcer, so corporations are in panic PR mode https://twitter.com/bigmeaninternet/status/1350486123840208896
If you guessed the free market answer of “rising wages and worker power” you see what corporate America is desperate to avoid.

Before 2020 there was a pretty stable system for suppressing labor and wages. COVID upended that by spurring mass firings and forced moves.
Now workers have had to sit at home for months and think about how shtty their last job treated them, how their benefits disappeared in an instant, how the national gov’t did not much of anything for them, and how Jeff Bezos got richer the whole time.

And bake bread.
I dunno what will come out of this. Maybe American workers are so beaten down & propagandized that they’ll go back to kissing the feet of rich bosses for any job like all the online chuds demand they should. Maybe they’ll internalize all this abuse and think they deserve it.
That’s certainly part of the path to fascism, which demands you sacrifice yourself to the demands of the state & corporations.

But maybe things will be slightly different and working Americans will decide they deserve prosperity as much as the wealthy do, and fight for benefits.
Watching the anti-minimum wage goobers on social media carrying water for the ultra wealthy, mindlessly mouthing the ridiculous debunked lies that Koch-funded think tanks have pumped into our society for decades, is depressing.

But there’s always hope. And mockery. So maybe! 😄
