Why I love black metal over thrash, death, or heavy metal in general.
I don’t see it as some superior or refined genre of metal. Its something that is difficult to enjoy at first listen (for most). Its harsh, cold, isolating, sharp, chaotic in that it follows no set structure, —

Its dark lawless vibrations that intersect the inner depths of the mind that are normally ignored. It sounds cold & bleak w/ nothing to detect a sense if meaning. Its cold meaninglessness. It carries levels of vibrations to stimulate your mind &emotions to feel your subconscious
Even the vocals give nothing to latch onto as they’re usually unintelligible & harsher than the music itself. No escape from this black hole of vibrational drowning nothingness.
Black metal is harsh & chaotic darkness but does not mean it’s without a sense of compassion. No other form of music can let you confront yourself. The dark vibrations provides an open space for your mind, subconscious, & emotions to provide the meaning. Like a black metal golem
Other forms of metal provide the meaning of each song either through lyrics, the music tone/structure, vocals, etc. Black metal, especially atmospheric & DSBM is entirely your creation as a listener. Regardless of its creator.
