Castles.

They were built as defensive strongholds capable of withstanding external attack and keeping the people inside safe.

In Britain we have a great understanding of castles, their form, and function.

A vaccination programme is castle building.

Is half a wall good enough?
It could be.

With troops and archers and other defences such as drawbridge, oil, and trebuchet.

In pandemic terms, this would translate at effective lockdowns and aggressive test and trace.
Neither of which we’ve done properly.

And we’ve only just shut the drawbridge.
The other fun bit is siege, the idea being you had enough supplies inside to withstand a prolonged attack.

Right now, we’re failing there too.

History, even in its basic form, is really important.

And no, this thread isn’t aimed at pedants. Because pedants are revolting.
