Stove God Cook$: Reasonable Drought
-Melodic/Singing moments from the album [Thread]
I want to start this thread off by saying that this was the best album last year for me personally, Roc Marci's production is immaculate and this album has some of his best ever produced beats. Stove God's delivery and charisma is something I've not seen from a rookie in a while.
One of the many things I love about this album are the singing/melodic parts which makes it more enjoyable and thus having high replay value. It's very unusual for a "coke rapper" to be this melodic in his raps and this makes me even more excited for what's to come from Cook$.
Track 1: Rolls Royce Break Lights
- Fantastic catchy chorus from Cooks, it has some Jamaican influence in it as well and has the Drake rendition of the song "Successful" from his So Far Gone mixtape. Cooks proclaims "I just wanna be, I just wanna be successful"
Track 2: Bread of Life
- This chorus is such a vibe man, Cooks brags about selling coke out the church parking lot lmao😂
I love this video of Busta Rhymes vibing to this track🙌🏾
Track 3: Crosses
- Another great sung chorus from Cooks, this beat is Godly (Am I tripping or is there really a Westside Gunn adlip on here around 29 seconds in?)
Track 4: Break The Pyrex
- The lead single to this album, another great chorus from Stove God and that sample? geez (Roc Marci killed it). Cooks references hip-hop icon Ghostface Killah and the legendary "Purple Tape" (Only Built 4 Cuban Linx) amongst other things in this chorus.
Track 5: Jim Boeheim
- One of my personal favourite sung performances by Cooks. "I'm just tryna make it hoooome, feds tap-dancing on phooooone ooooooh" could listen to this all day honestly, amazing.
Track 6: Money Puddles
- Perhaps the best beat on the whole project, what's a Cooks chorus without a coke reference lmao? "Umbrellas out it's raining cats & dogs and BRICKS!/ Splashing through these Money Puddles we rich" yet another fantastic chorus by Stove God.
Track 7: Burt & State
- The singing pre-chorus is so amazing man, absolutely beautiful. Yet another solid sung chorus by Cooks over an incredible instrumental, Roc Marci really out did himself with these beats man.
Track 8: Gloria Blemente
- An over-hated track, regarded by many as the weakest of the album. Cooks talks about his sexual desires/endvaours all over the track. It's an ambitious sung performance throughout the song by Cooks. Not a great nor terrible song it's just okay imo.
Track 9: Lava Lamp
- One of the catchiest choruses on the album, Cooks delivers yet another great sung performance on this track.
Track 10: John Starks
- The only song on the whole album that doesn't have a melodic/singing moment on it. I'll just post the whole track because it's incredible and has a bunch of references on it. One of Cooks' best rap performances on the whole album, amazing beat by the Roc.
"YOUR FAVOURITE RAPPER TELL ME THAT I'M NIIIICE..... COOKS"
Track 11: Cocaine Cologne
- "STILL SMELLING LIKE A BREAK RIGHT NOW"
- My favourite sung performance by Cooks, over an incredible beat. The best chorus on the whole album and the catchiest of them all. I can't give this song enough praise, it's just simply amazing.
Track 12: Balenciaga Stamp
-Ayo where the heck does Roc Marci get these samples man?😭 The best sample on the whole tape and a fantastic conclusion to an amazing album, perfection.
Thank you all for reading up until this point, really means alot ❤️ I enjoyed making this Thread and I'm super excited for what Cooks has in store for us🥺
