i think socialists on the settler left—e.g. white leftists—gravitate toward the class>race paradigm because it allows them to articulate oppression for the first time in their lives & escape the consequences of their whiteness.
but if white leftists say “class>race,” they never have to interrogate how violently they wield their whiteness across political geographies.
if white leftists say “class>race,” they may ignore how non-white people—ESPECIALLY black & indigenous workers—are the recipients of even harsher forms of state violence & superexploitation than they are.
often, white leftists pretend that by becoming a self-declared socialist or communist, they have adopted a marginalized identity.
