Sikhs have been at forefront of the #Kisan protest. There is an American Sikh Congressional Caucus comprising dozens of congressional representatives. The Caucus has been entirely silent on ongoing farmers protest. Why? If ever they were needed, isn't it for such a time as this?
Does the Sikh Caucus exist only for show?
Oh. Wait. I guess it does. From notoriously pro-Modi @RepBera, who is simultaneously a Sikh Caucus & an Indian Caucus member:
"I'm a proud member of the Congressional Caucus on India, and any matters involving India, or US-India relations should and will be handled by that group. The American Sikh Caucus' work will deal with domestic civil rights issues." https://www.business-standard.com/article/pti-stories/american-sikh-caucus-will-focus-on-domestic-civil-rights-bera-113051000052_1.html
What's the use of a Sikh Caucus that, according to a pro-Modi US Congressman who deigns to speak for it, restricts itself from speaking about issues impacting Sikhs in India, the country with the largest Sikh population in the world?
And from @RepJudyChu, a co-chair & co-founder of the Caucus: "Chu said... soon after announcing the formation of the group that their focus would be on solely domestic issues... & that they will not use this platform for foreign issues including the 1984 anti-Sikh riots."
