I played for some mentally and physically tough, and still not very good, college baseball teams. If there’s a talent gap—which there is for a ton of mid major and division 2, 3, JUCO, and NAIA programs—the answer probably isn’t to spend training economy and time running
And practicing the little things like bunt and 1-3 defense. The answer is to train to get better. Luckily, on the internet, we have access to research, technology (some of it inexpensive), and continuing education on how to do just that!
The ROI you would get from quality S&C (let the strength coaches do it—or if you don’t have strength coaches, refer to previous tweet!) and throwing programming, resulting in stronger more athletic players who threw harder and hit farther, would be huge!
And the buy-in you’d get from your team would probably result in them becoming the pack of dogs you were looking for when you sent them running up that hill in the first place!
