Re: CP2077. There's a really high level of survivor bias in AAA management. Often mngmnt is disconnected from the reality of production and so correlate decision X with result Y. Never understanding how decision X was wrong but the team suffered and still pulled it off in the end
One of the most toxic ideas (which I also subscribed to) was the idea of that if you aim for 150% then you'll end up hitting 100%. Reality is that you just end up biting off more than you can chew and end up with a ton of unfinished/unpolished/incoherent features aka 60%...
Personally I would plan for and target 80% and actually hit that 80%, than aim for 150% and eat shit for the entire production only to end up at 60%. It's easier to add stuff if you have more time than to try to remove things when you run out.
I have no idea what happened during the cyberpunk production but I've been firefighting on enough failed new IPs to see the same patterns over and over again. So it wouldn't surprise me if similar things occurred.
