with the recent rise and misuse of the use of the term hyperfixation i've noticed a large demand for a new term, so here it is - ND-INTEREST!

unlike a hyperfixation, which is very consuming and usually short-lived, an nd-interest is a term to describe a long-lasting, strong interest. neurodivergents tend to have much stronger interests than neurotypicals, and these are often wrongly labeled as hyperfixations.
an nd-interest can last from months to years, and is a strong, lasting interest. it is not as urgent or consuming as a hyperfixation, but a lot of hyperfixations can eventually turn into an nd-interest. it also differs from a special interest and is not as focused or permanent.
nd-interests tend to be a lot stronger than normal interests and can often feel like a part of your identity! like the very self-explanitory name implies, all neurodivergents can experience nd-interests. but, like hyperfixations, it's most common in people with adhd!
