Ok I’ve had about enough of all the pretentious d*******g
coaches on twitter talking about “pass strings” and possession like there’s only one way to play the game. Like if you don’t teach/force your team to connect 30 passes you’re not really teaching the game.... (thread)

Why don’t they talk that way about
when teams “ground and pound” or use an “air attack” or have a pocket passer or a mobile QB?? You play to the strengths of your team to meet the demands of the game at hand. If your team is better at passing than mine
but I’m more athletic

Why wouldn’t I sit in a low block and tactically target your weakest player then counter with my teams greater athleticism all day? Why does my team have to play to your team’s strengths and not ours? I’m not a soccer “purist” if I don’t teach that? Ok, cool, I’ll take the win.
It’s become every obnoxious coach’s way to validate themselves by dragging a team that may be inferior to theirs and/or doesn’t play “the right way”. Get over yourselves man. If you only know one way to play/win I feel sorry for you. I’ve never seen a team win a game...
Because of “pass strings”. Goals win games, period. And there is more than one way to score. Real Madrid won the Champions League by playing counterattack soccer. Spurs do it now at lightning speed. The #Dash won the #ChallengeCup by doing it. Coach/Play to your team’s strengths.
