That thread about moving to Bali as an American hits me in all the wrong ways knowing that Americans weren't taught how fucked up Indonesia has been to West Papua. That Indonesian soldiers literally kill West Papuans, every day. Moving there, even visiting, perpetuates that death
Don't glamorize Bali. Don't glamorize a place so poor that its citizens heavily rely on tourism, foreign investors & rich expats. Don't glamorize being "one with nature" on some spiritual healing bs in a country that murders Indigenous people because it wants their lands.
Don't glamorize being so poor in America that you go to a foreign country and all of a sudden that exchange rate makes you rich. Do not boost those people. Idc what that person's struggle is/was. Amplifying "move to Bali" is perpetuating genocide.
