13 thoughts on Apple’s #AirPodsMax after one month of using
1. They are heavy. Wearing a pair of glasses makes it even worse. Constant feeling of weight while walking is annoying. Also be aware of rain, they don’t like to be wet. Best usecase—listening music at home, for an hour or two.
2. Spatial Audio. Not much to say. Nice gimmicky feature unless you’re using your iPhone or iPad for watching movies and not sitting still all the time. Nice to have but not something you’ll be missing
3. Transparency Mode is fantastic. Hard to describe. Something you might wanna try for yourself. I’m a big fan

4. Aluminium earcups make very annoying sound each time you put them off.
5. Case. It’s just a joke. Seriously, I think Apple made this case just so people will talk about it. It’s useless. And I found it very ugly tbh.
6. Sound quality. After using Sony WH1000XM3 I might say AirPods Max produces much better sound, much wider sound stage and more flatter sound as well if you’re listening to heavy rock music. AirPods louder and cleaner than Sony but less “bassy”. Overall great sound!
7. Instant pairing — hit’n’miss. Using iPhone feels like magic. Switching to Apple Watch or iPad feels the same — magic! Switching to Mac is not that reliable. Maybe Apple will fix this in upcoming software updates for macOS or AirPods

8. There is no power button. I found it weird. But it doesn’t bother me too much.
9. Lightning. It’s just my personal preference. I prefer USB–C to Lightning. Not a dealbreaker though.
10. Mics. AirPods are known for their great sound quality when it comes to calls. If you’re familiar with sound quality of AirPods Pro you know what to expect.
11. Design. Quite subjective but I like them. They start to grow on me after a week or two of using. I wish they were lighter but it is what it is.
12. Digital Crown and NC button. Nice and clicky tactile feedback. I prefer them to touch controls but placement is something I wish Apple would change. Adjusting earcups will cause accidental clicks. Maybe I’ll get used to it
13. Price. £550 is too much. As much as I liked them I still think Sony WH1000XM3 or XM4 is a better deal overall.
