When wage discussions focus on "skilled" vs "unskilled", we prop up a value system that ignores the fundamental value of life itself. If you spend 8+ hrs/day at a job, that is your life. You are not pursuing other things. What is the value of your time on earth as a human being?
It may be "unskilled" to flip a burger, but doing that all day means you are not studying, parenting, enjoying etc- all to serve profits of another. What is that worth? (not to mention providing the core service of a burger based business).
The idea of a "job creator" is rubbish if the employee gains no real benefit or fulfillment and can barely survive. It is an incredible display of entitlement to decree an employee is fortunate to make someone else a billionaire at the expense of ones own time on earth.
This system only places value on what benefits those at the top. If you are "skilled" you benefit them more & thus are paid more, but is your life worth more? And is your life worth sooo much less than the boss? Minimum wage needs to reflect not just skill but the value of time.
