please don't forget disabled people when you're talking about minimum wage. we can LEGALLY be paid below it. there is no livable minimum wage unless disabled people are included.
also important to note: this post refers to wages being paid to disabled workers, but SSI is also well, well below the poverty line and if SSI is not also raised to be a living wage there is no living wage.
should have included this upfront but here's some reading about it. while biden seems to be willing to potentially abolish it, there is still much to be done, including raising ssi to a living wage and lowering requirements.

also do NOT rely on biden's promises. pressure him, pressure EVERYONE. they say shit and then never fucking do it.
if you're abled, in a stable position, and feeling guilty/awful learning this, consider not only advocating for better laws and policies, but donating directly to disabled people who are suffering the effects of forced poverty.

hi! this is how NOT to be a disability ally. if a disabled person tells you it's dangerous and complacent to settle for small victories when disabled people are still suffering and being denied basic rights, don't block them and tell them that there are Worse People.
if we don't critique biden and push him to the left when it comes to disability rights SSI is still going to be difficult to get and pay sub-living wages. assuming that disabled people want to destroy an unjust system for ego rather than survival is also extremely awful. thanks!
