The @Overview with @GadiNBC on @peacockTV provides some insight into what broadcast executives think #GenZ is looking for in a news program.

As a Gen Z broadcast student/nerd, a thread with some of my thoughts... https://twitter.com/NBCNews/status/1350473751872339968
The episode structure is perfect: 2 stories in 20 minutes.

I was surprised at the topic variety in the first 3 episodes: the science of nostalgia, climate change in one lake, and voting tech challenges.

It's a mix of #SundayTODAY, StayTuned, and Vox. https://twitter.com/Overview/status/1350167181368111108?s=20
You feel closer to @GadiNBC over the episodes, especially w/ his dad in Ep. 2.

This is the most revealing to me. NBC thinks #GenZ wants to KNOW the person giving the news, and it's impressive how much we feel like we know/can relate to Gadi, even during 20 (jam-packed) minutes.
The show is no-frills and to the point. The opening graphic is >5 seconds. There's no banners or corner bug. The tease before the break is just @GadiNBC conversationally saying what's coming up.

Main questions/topics are made crystal clear:
The motion graphics are SLICK. There's elements from StayTuned, but The @Overview has its own distinct identity.

While the video is cinematic, the fast graphics keeps you from looking away.

Best incorporation of vertical video into horizontal format that I've ever seen:
And, just like any other @NBCNews entity, it leans on the entire network's resources:

- Interviews with @SteveKornacki, @oneunderscore__, @BrandyZadrozny
- Past footage & reports from @NBCNews & @MSNBC
- http://NBCNews.com  article headlines & pull quotes
Lastly, the studio reminds you of any YouTube video (which @GadiNBC jokes about).

Forget jibs, steadicams, and video walls, Gen Z just wants eye-popping graphics and a relatable anchor.

Excited to see what's to come in this new type of broadcast storytelling for #GenZ!
