Hi. I manage a restaurant with dozens upon dozens of employees. $15/hr is good. We will be fine. The burgers won’t go up that much. They’ll go up a little. The money added to pockets will still be more. We’ve done the math. Stop pretending you’ve done it for us.
Ultimately you aren’t making a mathematical argument. You’re making a moral one. You morally believe my dishwasher shouldn’t start at $15/hr. Your morals suck. Our math is good. $15 is good. Shut up.
I could explain this. I could tell you we have x number of menu items. We have y number of employees. Explain how the cost gets dispersed. How those numbers work together. But you don’t care about that. You just don’t want a hostess to feel good about herself. Shut up.
Some dude asked why we don’t just pay 15 now. We do for some folks. We pay well over minimum wage already. But we still exist in a market, dumbass. If $15 is min for everyone, market changes, we go up across the board. This is not complicated. Thanks for asking.
Didn’t mean for this to be a thread. Just hate this convo being had by people not in the game, pretending they’re talking for those that are. I will say: weird/bad year to add cost to small businesses. But that’s not an arg against $15. It’s an arg *for more stimulus*. The end.
