As an undergrad I worked 2-3 campus jobs at a time. Serving in the dining hall, delivering papers, RA work etc. It was one of the reasons I felt estranged from my campus peers—I was working so much more than them. We all make these decisions differently, have different resources, motives & incentives. I don’t care to judge. But I do firmly believe that when I decide what to pay an RA, it’s more than an economic calculus. It’s an opportunity to use my power to enact my values.
