The reproduction number of SARS-CoV-2 continues to rapidly fall in South Africa. It's estimated at 0.9 on average over last 7 days That's bellow 1! Four provinces (including most populous provinces) are below 1.
The reproduction number of SARS-CoV-2 continues to rapidly fall in South Africa. It's estimated at 0.9 on average over last 7 days That's bellow 1! Four provinces (including most populous provinces) are below 1.
All provinces are showing a sharp downward direction so that's also great. However SA still saw 111 000 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 7 days. R is the rate of growth of those case number so with R below 1 those weekly figures should decrease but it will time to bring down.
It would always be far easier to act individually and/or collectively before those figures rise in the first place.
