can we do a thread on some important self defense and safety tips for SW of all kinds?? this is stuff that newbies really need to know
just going off of what i’ve been told:
- don’t drive home the same exact route every night. if you suspect that you’re being followed, drive to a well-lit public place instead and call someone you trust to come meet you

- register your car’s tag to a PO box and not your home address
- NEVER give a client your real name or personal details. not even where you went to high school and what year. not your parents’ or siblings’ real names. nothing they could use to track you down

- don’t tell a customer what kind of car you drive. if you have an out of state license plate, don’t tell them. i made this mistake once and a customer slashed my tires, implicitly to strand me at the club alone late at night. thankfully i left after day shift and was okay
- have yourself unlisted from websites like whitepages/spokeo/voter records https://lifehacker.com/how-to-opt-out-of-the-most-popular-people-search-sites-1791536533
- DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DRINK UNATTENDED. ever, for any reason. don’t leave it with the bartender, they’re probably busy and won’t be able to watch it all the time. hold your hand over the glass and keep it close to your body. if it tastes off in any way, don’t keep drinking it
- invest in a doorbell with a camera, extra locks, and a home alarm system. you can buy all of these on amazon, and there are models that are removable & apartment friendly
