Been thinking today. I have conservative friends, not trumpers, just people who lean right. And there was a day where I could go,

“I believe this”

and then they say,

“I disagree and believe this.”

Then we could discuss it and move on.

Now I realize that my

nostalgia is born of the privilege of being a cis, white male and that the same time period includes such hits as,

“Hi, I’m [LGBTQIA+] and I’d like to be left alone to live my life and enjoy my rights as a citizen like anyone else. Please don’t kill me”

or

“Hi, I’m a woman and I’d like control of my body, fair pay for my labor, and to be left alone to live my life and enjoy my rights as a citizen like anyone else. Please don’t kill me.”

And, of course, the timeless classic

“Hi, I’m black. I’d really like to stop being treated as a second class citizen, but we can tackle that problem after you stop killing us for being black. Please don’t kill me for being black.”

So, yes, context is everything.

But, I’m referring to that general feeling of being able see the person as a human being even if I disagreed. Now, though, it’s killing babies and drinking their blood and secret canals of pedophiles and ignoring their pedophiles who run for office, and all levels of batshittery!

How do you have a discussion with that? Personally, I don’t. I’m going to mock you. I’m going to laugh in your face and ask you how you can seriously believe such idiotic things and lack the self awareness to say them out loud. I will happily make you feel stupid. I am that guy.

Bring that shit to work or the bar or the restaurant or wherever and I will ridicule you until I get bored. I have zero interest in understanding, unity, deprogramming, or whatever other buzzwords that come up to alleviate the burden of responsibility on these simple-minded fucks

who have reduced our nation to Idiocracy: The Reality Show.
