Self-doubt is something I have struggled with for years on end until I cracked and had enough.
By then I had already had arguments with family members, hindering my relationships with them and a nervous breakdown.
Also started to suffer from chronic depression.

Self-doubt is the little voice in your head that tells you "you can't" or "that's not good enough" or "you look stupid".
It will consume your valuable time and focus and create fear within you.

1. Past events
E.g. Setting your own standards too high, or even things that have happened in a past relationship, or simply someone else's critical reactions to you.
All of these batter your self-esteem and eventually if you focus on them your opinion of your self lowers.

2. Early life as a child.
Your early years are vital to the development of your internal attitudes and beliefs.
As you are so impressionable if you are raised in an environment of high criticism and expectations you will undoubtedly render your self worth lower.

3. Environment
Things like a low socioeconomic status, patents' employment status and school performance play a role in how you think of yourself.
You often think of what other people think of you and believe it to be true, this is what you continue to tell yourself.

This is when you constantly doubt your skills and accomplishments in life and create fear in mind that others will discover you are not in fact deserving or qualified to do something.
Usually when going into a new job or starting a new business.

Moving on to how you can overcome self-doubt.
I am a firm believer that writing in a journal all of your feelings and thoughts is a fantastic way to release your emotions and negative associations.
This then frees up space and brain power for the good stuff and positives.
