Much like Manson, he is a charismatic conman that relentlessly inflamed his devoted followers to the point wherein they abrogated all of their free will to their leader. In Trump's case that meant laying siege to the Capital in a bloody attempted coup.

And also like Manson, who preferred to stay behind as his cultists did the dirty work, Trump watched at a safe distance from his residence.

When a cult leader has wrested any remnant of objectivity from his followers, he becomes their ultimate arbiter of truth. His acolytes come to believe that they have a duty, a righteous duty, to bring to bear the fruits of their leader's desires, no matter how craven.

Whether towards violence or suicide or insurrection they will march mindlessly towards their fate, towards helter skelter. This is where we find ourselves at this moment, with millions of Americans following a malignant narcissist.

Certainly, we need to hold his many followers responsible for their actions, but, as in the case of Manson, the ultimate responsibility rests with their demented leader.
As the saying goes, a fish rots from the head. In this case, Donald Trump.

Sure, the Senate should convict him but, as far as I'm concerned, he should be tried in US courts, and hopefully soon there after, head on to jail for a nice extended visit. This probably won't happen, but I can dream.
