Corey Davis enters this offseason after a huge contract year, finally coming into his own and breaking through to a true WR2 in the NFL. Let’s breakdown the future for Corey Davis!

Corey Davis struggled early in his career, whether it was being in a lackluster offense before AJ Brown, or not being able to get open as often due to the heavy run game. Davis finally came into his own this year, being a true #2 for Tennessee. (video via: @NFLonCBS)
Unfortunately we head into an offseason where most teams don’t have a lot of money, and that doesn’t bode well for Davis. This market doesn’t look great for all WRs, but for Davis it wouldn’t make much sense for a team to overpay for a guy who’s only produced one full season.
I don’t see a team overpaying for Davis, as I assume Tennessee will make an offer to retain him as their WR2 behind Brown. It seems the discount to stay will happen for Davis, in a crowded FA class with not a lot of money, Davis will look to have another stellar year in 2021.
Now whether Tennessee franchise tags him or gives him a multi-year deal is a good question, and it could go either way, especially if they is other buyers for Davis. Davis could accept the tag and try to bank on another stellar contract year, or lock up a long term deal.
Corey Davis had a great season, totaling 65 catches for 984 yards and 5 TDs. He looked like a guy that could handle that #2 role, and definitely thrived in the run first offense of Arthur Smith. He’ll need to continue to produce, for teams to really buy into him long term.
That’s why I think he gets tagged. I see Tennessee giving him another year to prove it to us, especially in a economy that isn’t favorable for big deals. Corey Davis will most likely remain a Titan, and I could see him finishing relatively close to his stats this year.
I really liked Davis out of college, and believe he can really come into his own next year, especially under Tannehill, Brown and Henry. He’ll be given opportunities to grow and shine, and can grow into a player organizations can trust long term.
I have Corey Davis ranked WR45 in dynasty, but could see him as high as WR25, and as low as WR60. As always, thoughts and shares are appreciated! Will Fuller and Curtis Samuel will be up next tomorrow morning!
