This #Rams-at- #Packers playoff game reminds me that the 1st year the #NFL held playoffs -- 1967, when they had 2 semifinals & then a title game -- the 1st game was Rams vs. Pack on a Saturday in *Milwaukee.* Lombardi's men won 28-7 en route to their 3rd straight championship.
There were a handful of other playoff games prior to that, but only to break division/conference ties. They weren't scheduled before the season. That 1967 game is the only time in #NFL history the #Packers have hosted the #Rams in the playoffs -- and it wasn't even in Green Bay!
Here's Vince -- in his monogrammed sweater -- starting to strip off his cold-weather gear afterward. The other semifinal, #Browns at #Cowboys, was the next day . . . and the famed Ice Bowl followed.
Here's the L.A. Times the next day. Jim Murray on an L.A. team playing in Wisconsin on Dec. 23: "The locker-room banality, 'It was just as cold on both sides of the field,' was about as ludicrous as the guy who lost a shark fight saying, 'Well, it was just as wet for the shark.'"
