So, I appear to have gotten some criticism and flack for some of my beliefs, so I just want to clarify some things about my recent post, particularly debunking someone's comments about my beliefs. Here is the post in question, and the response I'll be debunking:
1. I never said that the myths of Homer were Christian propaganda. I believe that assumption is based off of a misunderstanding of my posts on the hypothesis that we're missing myths that may portray the Gods in a more positive light.
2. The PGM is a syncretic magickal text that incorporates primarily Jewish, Egyptian, and Greek mythology and symbology. It's not something a lay Greek person would have read or had access to it. Its use likely would have led to one's expulsion from the Eleusinian/other Mysteries
3. Yes, the Greeks had a different perception of goodness, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about Plato's Good, which can be equated with The One in Pythagorean philosophy or the Monad.
4. My perception of the Gods is influenced by what remains of the Orphic, Eleusinian, and Pythagorean Mysteries with a helping of Plato and Hermetism on the side. Therefore, my view of cosmology and theology differs slightly from those who draw primarily from Homeric sources.
5. I'm far from the only person to make these claims. To illustrate my point, I'll leave you with this quote from Plato, which described the demiurge/The Good/The One/The Source of Everything (including the Gods.)

6. And before more people say my beliefs are Chrstian...many Christian beliefs are likely Orphic in nature!
