I will always have a special place in my heart for the amazing people of @StateDept and the announcement today send more incredible, experienced, crisis-tested committed public servants--just a few words about this team @ABlinken put together.
There are few as qualified, prepared, substantive and thorough with experience both @CIA, and @WHNSC and deep knowledge of foreign policy as @nedprice. America is back at the briefing room at State.
Lots of smart, talented women who claim to be supporters and advocates for other women in Washington. @wendyrsherman practices what she preaches. She negotiated the Iran deal with broken bones (if I remember correctly) and we are so lucky to have her representing the US.
When I started @StateDept Toria Nuland could have ignored me and move on to her next big job. She didn't --she took me under her wing, taught me about the building, the people, briefing, policy issues. No one better to take back our seat at the table around world.
She probably does not remember, but I interviewed @Jenkinsbd for a podcast #TheWorldUnpacked @CarnegieEndow and she is smart as hell, a barrier breaker and someone who works to lift up others even as she is rising. Can't wait to see her in this role
Just to keep with same theme of legit amazing, women in national security--Suzy George somehow manages to bring wisdom, toughness, brilliance and joy to most convos she is in--no better badass woman to serve as COS during these times
