I want to talk about 3 things today:
The Ravens matchup
How big is the Bills window/offensive contracts
The one Josh Allen “improvement” that can be real and sustainable in the future
The Ravens matchup
How big is the Bills window/offensive contracts

Looking at the matchup with the ravens subjectively, if the ravens stick with their typical offensive and defensive identity, I really think the Bills destroy them tonight.
The Ravens are a great team, but as a general rule, don’t blitz against a team with 2 of the following 3: a great play caller, a great QB, or great WRs. The Bills have a great play caller and great Wrs. If the Ravens blitz, they will get torched.
In terms of key contracts, there’s really only one key player whose is a free agent this year, and that’s Darryl Williams. After 2022 however, is a different story. The window is this year and next year. All in.
I talk a lot about how the off-season talk of mechanical improvements are usually a myth, with so often guys going back to their usual mistakes once the bullets start flying in September. I think Allen’s mechanical improvement has a really strong shot at sticking and here’s why..
The major reason why they don’t stick is because when people face adverse conditions, they revert back to what they’ve done thousands of times with muscle memory. It’s why guys like Tebow always have had horrible mechanics.
What’s different with Allen? He never really faced adverse conditions at all this year. With how good his supporting cast has been this year, it’s allowed Allen to gain a ton of time maintaining his mechanics in game.
Now, he’ll have 2 off seasons and essentially a full season without having a bad situation where his bad habits came back. That’s a big deal, and I think with that, his mechanics will stay improved in 2022 at least within clean pockets.
