Next potential #SWFC manager preview thread is Vladimir Ivić
A foreign manager with a brief appearance in English football. Most recently at Watford but sacked in December after ongoing battles with influential players/poor boardroom relations and mixed results. (1/13)

Ivić has 25+ years of experience in football - 8 as a manager/coach across 5 countries (Serbia, Greece, Germany, Israel & England). In terms of formations, he's historically known for playing 4-3-3 in
/
but at Watford primarily used 3-5-2. #SWFC (2/13)

Ivić's style of play is mixed. His personal preference is to play attacking aggressive football but he's known for being "pragmatic" and tinkering tactics to suit circumstances & counter threats. For instance with players missing he dropped his 4-3-3 and played 3-5-2 #SWFC (3/13)
However Ivić's style is primarily about being organised - might mean his football isn't pretty but on paper gets results. E.g. Maccabi often won by solitary goals despite dominating. More about building a solid footballing unit than relying on creative individuals. #SWFC (4/13)
As a manager Ivić is strong on discipline and is regarded as a no nonsense coach. Applies tough standards to media and more so players, particularly regarding his training regime - which is how he selects players. This caused issues at Watford among players/coaches. #SWFC (5/13)
The stats:
*Ivić's career Points Per Game is 2.05 which is well above any Wednesday manager.
*An impressive career win percentage of 61%. But massively skewed by his career pathway.
*Goals For/Against is 310:123 which demonstrates his superior quality teams.

The good:
*Ivić has winning credentials in the majority of roles - 2 cup wins & 3 title wins (including his U20s title win). Only at Watford he "failed".
*His "pragmatic" style could mean players won't be played out of position to accommodate his favoured tactic. #SWFC (7/13)

The good cont':
*Ivić is used to working with smaller budgets given the league's he primarily managed in.
*On paper he may not need a drastic squad overhaul in order to achieve his aims (as opposed to some managers). So no need to exile our traditional
defenders. #SWFC (8/13)

The bad:
*Ivić's bulk of experience as a manager is in Greece & Israel. Neither league I consider competitive or to a benchmark standard of the Championship. More so the teams he's managed in
/
are expected to dominate & win the league (Maccabi Tel Aviv & PAOK). #SWFC (9/13)

The bad cont':
*Currently only holds a UEFA A Licence. Whilst it matters little in our current predicament, if DC is serious about promotion then Vladimir Ivić isn't qualified on paper to be a Premier League manager. Loophole by paying someone else to be "manager"? #SWFC (10/13)

The bad cont':
*Eligibility for a work permit? - new post Brexit rules are in effect meaning Ivić no longer automatically qualifies by his dual Greek citizenship. Would cost us additional money for an appeal and if it fails then ultimately we would have wasted time. #SWFC (11/13)

The bad cont':
*Ivić has a history of poor relations at boardroom/staff/players levels - primarily at Watford. This could be a recipe for disaster at #SWFC with DC & 3rd party influences. Additionally we've seen the strong influences of players in sackings of Jos & Pulis. (12/13)

Overall Ivić wouldn't be an inspiring appointment for #SWFC. There is no doubting his talent given his achievements in limited career timeframe. But to a degree he's flopped in England & his "pragmatic" approach of grinding out results wouldn't sit well after Monk/Pulis. (13/13)
