After the draft we discovered some now-deleted social media posts from one of Chicago’s 2021 draftees, Channing Foster. These posts were unequivocally racist and hateful and we had hoped that she or the Red Stars would address them without our urging. #mkot (1/5)
We are disappointed in her, and also in CRS staff for an shocking lack of due diligence. These posts are unacceptable for anyone, especially a Chicago Red Stars player. (2/5)
Like many clubs, the Red Stars have spent the last several months posting in support of Black lives. While this is a step in the right direction, it becomes merely lip service to Black players and supporters if not backed up by actions. (3/5)
We also continue to be disappointed in several current Red Stars for displaying a basic lack of empathy by refusing to join the majority of their teammates kneeling in protest of police brutality against POC. This tweet from June still holds true: (4/5) https://twitter.com/ChicagoLocal134/status/1277091101036482560
We are always excited to welcome new Red Stars to the family, but trust that we will not support a player who displays such casually racist behavior and we will continue to hold the Red Stars front office to a higher standard in this regard. (5/5)
