It truly says everything that no one doubts our "pro-life" Supreme Court justices, who make up a majority of the court, will undermine women's fundamental rights in the name of "life," but gladly give the go-ahead to the Trump admin to execute a 100-year record number of people.
This didn't have to happen. There will be another president in five days. There was no extraordinary need to push these executions forward now. This was a choice, and every conservative on the Court voted for death.
The fact that these questions are being asked in American courts of law should profoundly shame every single one of us, and be a stain on the life and legacy of every disgraceful judge who allowed these executions to go forward.
From Sotomayor's dissent: "To put [it] in historical context, the Federal Government will have executed more than three times as many people in the last six months than it had in the previous six decades."
Really take in what happened here: The Supreme Court abandoned its usual careful, deliberative process and prevented lower courts from taking the time to fully consider these cases so that the federal government could execute a record number of people at breakneck speed.
It's just a shocking, phenomenal and wholly unnecessary abdication of the Court's most sacred responsibilities, in the service of a cruel, brutal regime.
