Do You Know?

Laxmi Bai was Queen of Jhansi who is famous for fighting British forces till her last breath.
But did you know that there was a person who was fighting besides her and was true friend of Jhansi ki Rani?

Jhalkari Bai was commander of women wing of Army of Jhansi under Queen Laxmi Bai.
Her husband was also deputed in the army.
She learnt all warfare skills from Queen herself.

Interestingly, Jhalkari Bai was similar to Laxmi Bai in looks.
She was one of the few person whom Queen could trust with her life.
She helped and gave assistance to Queen in administration and diplomacy.

When British army attacked Jhansi, Jhalkari Bai fought besides Queen Laxmi Bai.
Her husband died fighting in the battle.

The British army had surrounded fort from all sides and Queen needed a diversion to get out and gather Support so that

she could take on British in direct combat.

Jhalkari Bai then disguised herself as Queen and led a regiment of army to the main Gates while Queen along with her adopted son was ready to get out via secret door.

In that combat, Jhalkari Bai fought so valiantly that British couldn't recognise her till she was heavily injured.

They took her as Queen herself due to her courage and combat skills.
This gave Laxmi Bai a safe passage.
