The way Arsene, Ramsey and now finally Özil have been treated by a club and fanbase that demands loyalty but treats it as disposable when given, has been beyond appalling for me. Add to that how Özil was treated by the German NT and it's why I care so little about football now
Özil might be among the last characters in the game who embodies my idea of "the beautiful game" in an era where Arsenal, once known for gorgeous attacking play, are now stuck with what can best be described as micromanaged fear ball

It's why even this year, I picked this up
Gross mismanagement of his talent by Emery and then being frozen out have both convinced foolish people that he's somehow "done" or has "attitude issues" when he was simply not given a chance to thrive and forced out of the areas of the pitch that ESR is being allowed to use now
On top of that the club forcing him out (and Arteta playing along witg "footballing reasons") when it was most likely cynical commercial calculation

All of these have meant the world has been deprived of 2 peak years of one of its greatest playmakers https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/26/sports/soccer/mesut-ozil-arsenal-china.amp.html
His departure was inevitable. Given how disgracefully the club has acted to force him out and how fans have piled on - even if he wasn't Mesut Özil, at a human level, no one deserves to be treated like this

I hope now with this move he's finally appreciated for the genius he is
I don't think I'll be able to watch him play outside of maybe CL, but I'm glad the world at least gets another chance to appreciate the kind of artistry that is getting rare

He's one of the best I've ever watched play. I'm really sad he's off but I'm grateful he played for us
Good luck @MesutOzil1088 .

You're part of some of my favourite memories as an Arsenal and Germany fan and both the club and country are missing a lot of magic without you

I hope you finally get the love and appreciation you deserve.
