There are two main reasons I’ve always talked more about antisemitism on the left more than on the right & neither is that I’m some sort of Zionist stooge trying to undermine the left 1/
Reason 1) I care about preserving the integrity of the left. I care about the left winning votes. I care about implementing left-wing policies. I don’t want my anti-racist left to become just as bad as the people it’s trying to combat. 2/
Reason 2) I don’t need to convince anyone that antisemitism on the right is bad. Antisemitism on the right doesn’t manifest with a smile on its face calling itself your comrade. There’s not much to say about it except “I agree this is bad. We all know it’s bad” 3/
Whereas when it appears on the left, it’s an uphill battle to persuade anyone that there’s even an issue in the first place. I talk about it more because I need people to listen more. The guy wearing a Camp Auschwitz hoodie? Don’t need to convince anyone of who he really is. 4/
I don’t ever want to be in a position again where I don’t know which government I’d be more afraid of. The left shouldn’t make people feel like that. It should be about progress, inclusion & bettering people’s lives. I’ll never apologise for fighting for that. 5/
