#dissociatwt i’m kind of tired of people enforcing the idea of treating every alter as an individual. yes, for those who want that, you absolutely should, but i have parts that don’t want to be seen as individual identities. many of us want to just be... us. we are parts to 1/5
a whole. every brush stroke on a canvas is individual, but it’s part of a collective. that’s the best way i can describe the feeling many of us have. not everyone here wants to go by a different name. many of us just want to be seen as the painting: complete. and that’s 2/5
not to say we aren’t separate. we distinct from each other, but we don’t want to be seen as any different than the whole. that’s just how many of us feel, which i think is why we had so many setbacks to accepting our diagnosis. a few parts felt pressured to try and exaggerate 3/5
aspects of themselves just to fit into the idea of being a system. and they didn’t want that. it was uncomfortable for them. on the other hand, we have parts that want to be seen as distinct, and do make that clear. at the end of the day, we all just want to live a 4/5
happy and fulfilling life regardless of how we express ourselves as a system. we hope that others can respect that. 5/5
