Apparently I’m trying to catch Kit out.
No I’m fed up of the revisionist history from independent sage.

Independent Sage have been on the airwaves saying England should have implemented the sage circuit breaker(lockdown) in sept and yet here they are saying on 21st need measures short of one https://www.independentsage.org/emergency-plan-for-stopping-the-spread-of-covid-19-in-england/
So wind on 7 days. Here is another member saying words to the effect that restrictions are slowing the epidemic. No sign of need for circuit breaker here.
Wind on another 4 days. A react study is released and here is Kit saying “encourage news”. Doesn’t scream need circuit breaker end of sept to me.
In fact he finds it encouraging that the restrictions put in place ( something he called for in this guardian piece here https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/sep/11/where-and-why-are-covid-cases-rising-in-the-uk-and-whats-next) were having an effect and something short of a circuit breaker could bring r below 1.
So saying you implied calling for a circuit breaker in sept is nonsense if 3 weeks later you think measures short of a breaker are able to get R below 1. You just called for urgent action which you were encouraged by 3 weeks later.
Indy sage even welcomed the strategy the 4 nations announced on 22nd and the measures from announced by the PM but do caution more is needed but no mention that it should be a circuit breaker lockdown. https://www.independentsage.org/independent-sage-statement-on-the-new-uk-government-covid-measures-announced-on-22nd-september/
So no sign of a call from Indy sage or it’s contributors for a lockdown in sept. Just action which seemingly they got and welcomed. Wind on 13 more days. sage minutes from sept dropped which advised for a circuit breaker https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-sage-recommended-circuit-breaker-lockdown-to-ministers-three-weeks-ago-12102880
Wind on 3 more days, this is the first mention that Indy sage call for a Circuit breaker lockdown. Not early sept, not mid sept, not end sept, not even early Oct. mid Oct, after the sage minutes released.
So why criticism of govt if you didn’t propose one until 3 weeks later?
So why criticism of govt if you didn’t propose one until 3 weeks later?
You can read their plan released in 16th October here https://www.independentsage.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Emergency-plan-Oct-2020-FINAL.pdf
Again confirming that on 21st sept there were calling for action *short* of lockdown.
Again confirming that on 21st sept there were calling for action *short* of lockdown.
So in summary, independent sage did not call for a circuit breaker lockdown at all in sept but mid oct.
Kit thinks one would have helped the second wave, yet he never called for one in September.

I’m not trying to catch you out Kit or independent sage, I’m just fed up of the revisionist history and trying to hold them to account for doing so.
Especially when generally their solution is to find, test, hide, trace, move, isolate or what ever it these days.
End.

P.s I almost forgot.
Another solution was “keep only enough restrictions to keep R below 1”
Well they’ve cracked it, job done, we call all go down the pub now. Cheers.
