In search of “messianic figure,” don’t sell the sun to buy a candle.

1. In my opinion, “activists don't necessarily need to hold elected offices.” There’s a reason they are called activists. They are more resourceful outside the corridors of power, holding government to account.
2. For instance, no empirical data says someone like Aisha Yesufu can make a better president. Politicians thrive in their game because, it is their stock-in-trade to tell lies & twists facts. Some hailing Aisha Yesufu today, will be the ones crucifying her in office tomorrow.
3. For me, I’ll rather have her credentials intact the way it is.

So what are my trying to say? — “Nigeria does not need a Bobi Wine or a Sowore in the real sense.”

Museveni was once a revolutionary. Most bad people usually set out as revolutionists.
4. They were once good people that thought they could change the world. Now this is not me stereotyping. I hate painting everything & everyone with one brush. I hate labels & cancellations. But Nigeria need systems, & I mean strong institutions, not another messianic figure.
5. History has shown, activists become the monster they once criticized - the men they once demonized.

Nigeria need no “messianic figure.”

That was exactly how Buhari rode to power. Every country must fashion a system that works with its peculiarities.
6. Bring a hundred Sowore; with the system obtainable in Nigeria? Nothing will change.

Democracy couldn’t have worked for China, & Communism can’t possibly work in America. Nigerians keep making the same mistakes. I will always be rational in my thought processes.
7. Circumspection is my best friend. I dislike herd mentality.

As much as I love what Bobi Wine achieved in Uganda (I’ve got mad love for him ✊ & his people, for daring to dream), understand Uganda is not Nigeria, & Nigeria is not Uganda.
8. The reality is, “Nigeria is bedeviled with religious extremism, ethnic bigotry & jingoism, divisions that make meaningful growth unattainable.”

I noticed Sowore trolls are too many, perhaps much worse than Buhari & Osinbajo (BMC) trolls.
9. I see a familiar pattern playing out already. You cannot blackmail people into submission. I could care less about trolls & simply block. But this was how we got here since 2015. It is madness.

I will not trade one dictatorship for another.
10. Personally, I have nothing against Sowore. Being an egalitarian that I am, I can’t possibly be against him.

In fact, I love what he does with his Sahara Reporters. Quite frankly, he may be the last defense against a media that has been completely silenced in Nigeria.
11. Now you might be wondering where my loyalties lie. I am neither PDP nor APC. I have no party.

I don’t pretend to be a woman of the people, but I do try to be a woman for the people.

I understand Nigerians pander so much to sycophancy, praise singing & half-truths.
12. But not me. I will always say it the way I see it.

We cannot afford to be testing systems. At this juncture, we can’t afford another misdirected trajectory.

Finally, I wish all candidates for 2023 well (Sowore inclusive), may the best candidate WIN.
