kamo very specifically refers to the source of yuuta’s strength when he’s talking about how yuuta will never be able to be the “next gojō satoru.” he says that because yuuta’s strength comes from detaining his loved one’s — rika’s — soul, +
and gojō couldn’t bring himself to do that. it’s very likely that he could have cursed getō and retained his soul, but instead he attempted to free his soul from the world that broke his heart so readily.

gojō is only the strongest because he’s able to discard people +
but that ignores one very important aspect of him: his singular weakness, exploited viscously — getō suguru. he couldn’t bring himself to destroy his body, even though he had already ‘freed’ his soul, which led to him being sealed. +
kamo is a genius because not only does he acknowledge that gojō’s ability to discard people allows him to be the strongest, but he’s also aware that the one exception to that rule is his greatest weakness.

technically, gojō did curse getō at the very end. and himself. //end
