Self discovery is a theme that's so abundant in the anime/manga but rarely do I actually find it done exceptionally well but when it is, it's quite easily one of the most relatable to me, I just wish more anime and manga did it the justice it deserves

Thinking about it, NisiOisiN set the bar impossibly high. Characters like Araragi, Hitagi, Sodachi, Hanekawa, Nadeko etc. All deal with aspects of this theme in one way or another, Monogatari manages to give us not a single instance of this but many, delivering it so masterfully-

Yet in no case are the developments acquired through the exploration of the self the same for any one character, which, though a hyperbolised version of reality, it manages to encompass a large, though not complete spectrum of different mindsets leading to different outcomes-

With nothing but the utmost respect such a topic demands. This is no doubt one of the major reasons Monogatari stands out to me as much as it does as my favourite work of fiction and possibly THE biggest reason as to why Araragi is my favourite character ever
