Give me an opportunity to talk about Crowded House or Neil Finn these days, and Ima take it. The song is absolutely gigantic, but Crowded House's entire career was worthy, and Finn's stuff from the later era of Split Enz is also fantastic. https://twitter.com/Steven_Hyden/status/1350282952958226434
For example, this (from one of the later Split Enz albums) is just a staggeringly great love song. The verse, the chorus, the whole thing is humblingly great:
Every Crowded House album is worthy. If you're an American, chances are you've never heard a song like "Better Be Home Soon." But my God you absolutely must hear "Better Be Home Soon."
Crowded House didn't even put out their greatest album until the third time out, when Neil Finn's brother Tim (who was the founder of Split Enz and grandfathered him into that band before leaving!) joined CH. And you get "Weather With You":
But WOODFACE (which apparently was just NZ/Aussie slang for "having an immense hangover") contains the single greatest Neil Finn song of all time, one of the purest and most perfect love songs ever written. If McCartney wasn't jealous, he should've been:
I can't end a thread like this without talking about my single favorite Split Enz song, which was actually primarily written by Neil Finn's brother Tim: "Six Months In A Leaky Boat." And this live cut from a reunion gig is even better than the original:
Two brothers, singing together, after all those years...it's such a wonderful performance.
The tyranny of distance didn't stop the cavalier
So why should it stop me? I'll conquer and stay free
So c'mon all you lads, let's forget and forgive
There's a world to explore, tales to tell back on shore
I just spent six months in a leaky boat
Six months in a leaky boat

Genius
So goodnight** to @NeilFinn and @timfinnmusic, just know that your small but devoted worldwide cult (of which I am a more recent initiate) holds these songs of yours as treasures.

**maybe it's good morning, I dunno how time zones work here
