Fire Emblem, Genealogy of the Holy War/Seisen no Keifu

My second favorite game in the series. I went into the game with knowledge of the game and was still blown away.

The story, music, and animations are clean, characters well designed and written, and the gameplay?

Read on
Prologue; Birth of a Holy Knight

We're introduced to the world of Jugdral in a chapter that's short, fun, and easy. You learn several important things here; Sigurd is broken, Horses are great, and roads are pretty cool. The design is simple, yet effective. 8/10 chapter
Chapter 1; Maiden of the Spirit Forest

In this chapter, we get the best gen 1 character, Dew!

In all seriousness, we learn that the world is not all sunshine and rainbows, learn of Manfroy's influence, and get a pretty meh map. New characters are cool tho. 7/10
Chapter 2; Disturbance in Augustria

You saw Eldigan in the last chapter, now it's time to save him!

Sigurd meets Holyn, recruits Lachesis and the legendary merc Beowulf, and plays through a map that's very involved. Not to mention, Erin and Lewyn join here. Sylvia to ig

8/10
Chapter 3; Lion King Eldigan

Sigurd and Eldigan are now on conflicting sides; Neither can live while the other survives. Brigid, Claud, and Talitu join in a bad map. Eldigan's death and gift of the earth sword explains why I like him so much. Bugger off, Chagall

6/10
Chapter 4; Dance in the Skies

Oh, my god, this chapter is amazing. Lewyn gets Forseti and many units hit their stride. Storywise, this chapter's pretty good too. Sigurd's hiding here till his name is cleared from a crime he didn't commit. You lose the Leonster crew, though

9/10
Chapter 5; Doors of Destiny

The final chapter of gen 1, and my second fav of them. Storywise, this chapter hits hard and Sigurd holding his dying father in despair shows why I like him so much. The desert kinda sucks though. Musicwise, chapter's amazing.

9/10
Chapter 6; Inheritors of the Light/Light Inheritors

"And so, an era had come to pass..."

This map is the first of Seliph's tale, and it introduces us to the lad who's worse than his dad!

Pretty good gameplaywise though, playing around with the kids is fun

7/10
Chapter 7; Crossing the Desert/Beyond the Desert

Fe4 and Fe5 unite in this chapter! Sadly, it kinda... Sucks. New units are cool though, and we get Finn back!

The desert... UGH... Blume without Horseti was... Interesting

Seliph's beginning to bring hope to the world

4/10
Chapter 8; Dracoknights of Thracia

Ced joins here, and we get to meet Faval. Both very good boys.

Chapter's pretty good, too. Hope you're ready to fight Ishtar, though.

We get to see Altena for the first time, and she's pretty cool.

Gameplay's kinda boring, though

7/10
Chapter 9; For Whose Sake

Thracia's last stand! And it's... Pretty good... Beyond ballista castle.

The wyverns make a return, and we recruit the last of the units of gen 2; Coirpre, Hannibal, and Altena. New holy weapon's nice, and... Coirpre's there...

8/10, fun chapter
Chapter 10; Light and Dark

Oh no, Julia's missing! The "evil" emperor Arvis has gone onto the field! How can we fight this?

Tyrfing, Forseti, and praying

Seliph's secret combo is... Really good...

Don't remember the chapter much, sorry >_<

IDK/10
Endgame; The Final Holy War

Expect multiple tweets for this one

Best. FE. Endgame.

And I'm not just saying this because I did dumb things. It's just the right mix of challenge and fun as everyone is at the best they can be. Fighting Helswath, Mjolnir, and Julia is... Rough...
But! Julia can be saved, after you put down that dastard Manfroy. Then you have to take down Julius. I can't say how easy he is to kill with Naga, the flaw in the plan, but I can imagine it's very easy.

Plus, the endings are sweet, as are the lover's convos.

10/10
Now... The big topic...

I like Sigurd ***way*** more than Seliph.

Sigurd is a tragic... Character. It's his fault the empire can take over all of Jugdral so quickly, and even in death he's a loyal knight

Seliph is... Boring. He's an unwilling hero, but that's so boring. As is
Seliph's entire arc tbh

He goes from being the people's hope, to not wanting to be called a hero, to not wanting to be king but realizing he's the best to rule. He gets several powerful allies because... He's Sigurd's son. Compare Shannan and Ares to Ayra and Noish/Alec
. Seliph gets overpowered allies by the fact that he exists. And that's super lame to me. The worst thing that we see happen to him is when Julia is taken, and, yeah, they did that well, but everything else? Meh...
