Wow. A pissed off Prime Minister Trudeau is even more impressive than a diplomatic Prime Minister Trudeau. This is what we need right now. Our PM needs to be forcefully calling out those party leaders who are fomenting hatred in our country. #IStandWithTrudeau https://twitter.com/LauraBabcock/status/1350129410695946241
I must say, it is extremely interesting. Public figures like Trudeau and Notley, hated by the right, seem to have troll armies waiting for anyone to dare to say anything positive about them so the trolls can descend and shriek and try to silence those who don't share their views.
For the most part, this takes the form of ad hominem attack. Many seem to enjoy attacking my education. It's ok. I get it. They have been taught to mistrust and mock the educated. Scientists, experts who have studied a subject for many years... There is a long history of this.
Others come up with wild accusations, some along the lines of projection: accusing the other of what you have done. Some clearly the product of embracing the misinformation produced by right-wing "media", like Rebel and Post-millennial, organizations paid to spin falsehoods.
The breathless enthusiasm with which they parrot the stories and propaganda produced by right-wing operatives of billionaires like Charles Koch is nothing short of amazing. But then, those billionaires can afford the most effective experts in persuasion and thought control.
And make no mistake, if you are getting your news from Rebel, CPC newsletters, post-millennial, "Proud" memes, Prager-U, or any of the Sun papers, you are being deceived. You are having your world-view manipulated. You are being coached to vote against your best interests.
The PostMedia papers and sources are not much better, but they are a little less obvious. These organizations are owned and run by far-right leaning interests, and they do their masters' bidding. Their entire raison d'etre is to shift Canadian public thinking to the right.
And maybe you think you are a libertarian and that's why you feel the way you do about politics. I would like to tell you a few things about neo-Liberal Libertarians. First off, they are not in politics for you, not unless you are a multi-millionaire or richer.
And the chances of you becoming a multi-millionaire or a billionaire are slimmer than you getting hit by lightening on the same day you get mauled by a hippo and get a hole in one in golf. So they are not in it for you.
In fact, you are just pawns. Foot soldiers, cannon fodder, in their quest to control everything. This philosophy goes back a long, long way. Very rich people don't usually like to share. Not one scrap.
So when abolitionists started trying to stop slave ownership in the southern US, the rich property owners were so upset they launched a civil war. Because they owned these workers, these human beings, and they didn't want the US federal government to take away their "property".
Thus began the cries in North America for "property rights" Libertarians are so passionate about. More recently, these very rich people came to feel that accommodation of anyone in any way, was an infringement on their rights. It was going to cost them money.
Not only did they think Black people were inferior and shouldn't be mixing with their own children, but they were going to be taxed more to ensure Black children had an equal education to White children. And they thought that was all kinds of wrong.
Interestingly, in the responses to my initial tweet, a lot of people predictably brought out the old black-face photos of Trudeau. You do realise you aren't scoring any points with that, don't you?
Canada has worked through that, and posting those pictures just makes you look like an idiot. The movement you embrace is rife with racism. It is. There is no way you can argue that. So using those photos as a kind of "gotcha" makes you appear hypocritical as well as infantile..
The neo-liberals have a wide network. Internationally, officially represented by the IDU (which, incidentally, is headed by our former PM, Stephen Harper). They co-ordinate and share tactics and resources, like Cambridge Analytica and whatever has replaced it.
They use data about you to micro-target you. They figure out your interests and find ways to make it seem like your interests and biases align with theirs. They are using you.
They don't care about you. Nor do they care about anyone that isn't in their elite group.
Jason Kenney used a term awhile back, "Lower Human Capital", to justify lowering minimum wage for a segment of Albertan society. Because they are young, he said. They don't have experience, he said. Then he turns around and hires 24 year old Ben Harper for $100K/year, part-time!
Conservatives are all about trying to push everyone off social assistance programs, trying to prove everyone is faking and even if they aren't, we can't afford to look after people. Bootstraps! Why are they doing this?
Why do they not seem to care about elderly people dying of COVID in LTC homes? Because those people are not useful to the oligarchs. What happens to a dairy cow that no longer produces milk? Or a hen that stops laying eggs? That's all we are to them. Human labour inputs.
And they have no use for humans who are not feeding the wealth machine. Chronically ill? Too bad. Disabled? Too bad. Old? Too bad. Unless you can get a charity to look after you, perhaps you should just die. It is deeply callous and immoral, but it is their view.
They don't want public education or health care, because no one is getting rich off those things. And what's the point of human suffering if it can't make people rich? Plus, an uneducated population is more easily hoodwinked. See?
This is why you've been taught to mistrust highly educated people. Trump loves the uneducated. Because they are not critical thinkers and they are more easily swayed by propaganda. Education is the last thing conservatives want for Canadians. Especially humanities and the arts.
Before Christmas, Jason Kenney was talking about school schedules, and he kept referring to children as "trainees". He did it multiple times. It was no accident. He views children as human capital in training for a place as cogs in the wealth machine. That is all.
No one but the very rich deserves hopes, dream, ideas... They want to keep us fighting amongst ourselves so that we don't notice how they are scooping up everything for themselves. Some people responding to my tweet said Trudeau is causing division.
I challenge you to find an actual example of Trudeau suggesting any group of Canadians is less than any other group. The division is all coming from the right, and the right is doing the bidding of the uber-wealthy. Before you @ me, think a bit about this.
