youre free to be as creative as you want as long as your mapping isn't "outdated"

remember kids, the only thing that matters is that your map must "follow the song in an accurate way". playability? doesnt matter. aesthetics? a map is better without them. structure? whats that?

after all, the ranking criteria has only held objectively good maps in there for all these 13 years :) nope, maps as OBJECTIVELY bad as sonnyc's cannot get in! they don't abuse the main ranking system of the game, they cannot be excused for "representing movement". they're bad.

it is quite ironic how everyone made fun of ztrot for doing pretty much the same thing as BNs did to this map. "00:00:000 - remap everything, the concept of this is bad. dont bother changing my mind". guess hailie's map is objectively good after all.

if you think mapping has truly "evolved" (evolution = objectively better than before), then remember ztrot's reaction to a current-age map and think about how many old players would react the same. don't you think it's just that people have different priorities when mapping?

but yeah, symmetry = lazy and bad. following one single layer of the song to highlight it = lazy and bad. throwing hitobjects around the playfield with no sense of aesthetics, structure or playability? no, that's high effort because i said so. mapping truly has evolved.
