Just 1% of those who have received the vaccine live in Ward 8, where 92% of residents are Black, and where the plurality of the city's COVID victims live(d). (2/4)
In contrast, 36.5% of total vaccinations have gone to Ward 3 residents, where 95% of residents are white. Ward 3 has had the fewest COVID deaths in the city. (3/4)
The racial equity issues here are important. While these stats can't tell us exactly what's driving the disparities, the picture here is one that demands attention. We need to do better, DC. (4/4)
