1/ With elective surgeries being either cancelled or post-poned due to COVID, I have found many administrators as well as patients pushing for outpatient surgery. Has anyone implemented and had good experience with an outpatient protocol/pathway for TJA?
2/ If so, what have you found to be the most successful/least successful in implementing a protocol?
Patient safety is my main priority, so a strict criteria for patient selection as well as education is paramount in my opinion.
3/ I would be interested to know about:
Facility/staff preparation
Digital solutions and staff training
Pre-operative patient coaching and online modules
Streamlined instrumentation to minimize turnover and trays
Multi-modal pain management pathway
PACU rapid rehab with PT
Etc.
4/ DMs are also open for anyone who might want to share their protocol, experience, resources, roadblocks, and lessons learned.
