Literally yelling at the screen watching the newest @TrashTastePod. People with a BIG platform spreading fanboy FUD and rumor w/ zero fact checking and a complete lack of understanding of how things work is... basically a nerd microcosm of how 2020 happened.
First of all, nobody can buy Shonen Jump and suddenly get carte blanche to control all SJ properties BECAUSE THAT'S NOT HOW JAPAN WORKS. Creator gets sign-off on EVERYTHING, including sale of their IP.
Secondly, biggest issue with CR X Funi is that, because they've been bidding against each other for years, that's meant $$$ into new productions that are now in danger. THAT'S the problem. Not some hand-wavey "monopolies r bad they'll gouge the consumer" BS
THE reason CR was worth > $1bn is because of their international scope, and their huge membership numbers, and their platform (CR itself has some issues, but VRV is pretty solid). Funi has been using a pretty broken turnkey planform licensed from Sony DADC.
They smartly changed the topic after that. I have no desire to return to Answerman, but goddammit, someone needs to fact check the YouTubers. BADLY.
I do normally like the show, it's a fun convo and it's basically the only anime podcast that an exhausted, jaded pro nerd can relate to. But JFC, stop making shit up
