Isn't it about time that Anglosphere historians stopped re-telling the history of the Second World War from the anglophone perspective?

We need to get into the German archives and start telling the story from the German perspective... https://twitter.com/warmatters/status/1350218471829872640
With all due respect to those who have already published in this area - & I know that there are lots of people - but after several conversations this week I have to say that really we don't know as much as we think we do.

For example, I am 100% confident that the reasons why the Germans introduced the MG42, FG42, Stg44 & even the MP40 aren't anywhere close to what was driving Brits & Americans to think about equivalent weapons.

English speakers just make an inference & without justification.

I spent a couple of hours talking about German military records with several researchers this week.

What they told me implied an astonishing ignorance of German archives among British researchers.

So much so that I think there's scope to totally revise SWW history.

But Brits obvs will need to learn German...

and there's the bind
& just to add, I will if you will! 😇
