The H510 comes set up for a regular ATX motherboard. I’ll be using a microATX board for this, which means having to remove and replace a few standoffs. Glad I had my
@ifixit
kit ready, which made it super easy. @JayzTwoCents

Cable management inside the H510 is the easiest I’ve ever come across. A little planning and effort and you end up with a clean backside.
That was too easy.
That’s what I said a few minutes ago before I realized I didn’t have the IO shield on correctly and had the Ethernet port blocked. Oops.
It’s now fixed and fully assembled. There’s still so much room in here. I wish I had more stuff for it!

I need to keep working on the software side of things next. It’s a little intimidating with so many steps to create a working boot device.
That and wait for the girls to go to bed. Both my monitors are tied up, so I can’t even test boot this thing yet.

This whole build was inspired by @oztalkshw and his mental health PC zen videos.
Setting up the EFI for the installer is more of a challenge than I expected, mostly because of weird issues on my MacBook. Go figure.
First thing I’m noticing: these NZXT 120mm fans are not quiet. At all. Maybe I’m spoiled by the Noctuas in my main rig, but damn. These are less than ideal. I can’t get the fan curves to calm down either.
I feel like @JikissGamer.

Two hours later after wrestling with macOS Big Sur and Python 3.9.1, I think my boot USB is ready. Just need to see if I can change some specific BIOS settings and get the installer going. Wish me luck.
Still installing. In the meantime, here’s a little comparison between my gaming rig and the Hackintosh.
The little one has so much more horsepower, but this white monolith of a case is quite eye pleasing. @oztalkshw

I was up way too late last night messing with the Hackintosh, but most things work. AirDrop, Handoff, Apple Watch unlocks won’t work until I find a compatible wifi/Bluetooth card.
I was able to test it using Cinebench. The 9th Gen Core i3 isn’t a slouch.
