Lockdown is tolerable for many middle aged people. Most of us have lived a little, are reasonably solvent, have partied in the 80s and 90s, and are now being “good citizens”. Imagine what it’s like being a teenager at the moment. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
The greatest casualties of this situation are young people. They are going through the most formative years of their lives in a state of crisis and paralysis, and are going to be paying for the privilege for the rest of their lives. But apparently that’s ok.
I’m just grateful my kids are only 9 and 6 as I still hold out a modest hope this will pass. I hope they will grow up with it being an anecdote from their early childhood memories. But for millions of teenagers and young adults this is a devastating time and they are suffering.
They don’t show up in any of the statistics, sadly.
