THREAD: Did @AOC take abolishing ICE off her website? The short answer is no: it still appears - as a mere bullet point - under the Women's Issues tab. HOWEVER, the question is WHY it was removed from the Immigration Issues tab, where it appeared throughout 2020.
Also throughout 2020, there were various points where her site didn't mention abolishing ICE under either tab, absent from BOTH Women's Issues AND Immigration Issues. Again, this begs the question of WHY.

These snapshots are from July 27th, 2020.

This is how Immigration Issues and Women's Issues appear as of January 2021.

Abolish ICE is absent from Immigration Issues, but now appears *in passing* under Women's Issues.
Abolish ICE is also mentioned in her merch store, where you can purchase this hat for 27 bucks.
A few other general points to consider re: AOC's "abolish ICE" platform: First, she is NOT anti-deportation. In 2018, she tweeted: "Abolish ICE means not having an agency that incarcerates children and sexually assaults women with impunity. It does not mean abolish deportation."
That same year, she told The Intercept: "So abolishing ICE doesn't mean get rid of our immigration policy, but what it does mean is to get rid of the draconian enforcement that has happened since 2003..."

In May of 2018, AOC said she wanted to "abolish ICE" but then "replace ICE" with an "updated INS-like structure that handles crime through the same court system we’ve had for well over 100 years."
@AOC also endorsed Joe Biden, who was not only Obama's VP when he was setting records for deportations - even deporting more in his first term than Trump - but also has no plans to abolish ICE, falling back on the usual political jargon about "reforming" it instead.
To summarize, while AOC does still *technically* have abolishing ICE on her site, it's no longer under Immigration, and a central piece of her campaign is now a mere note under Women's Issues. At various points throughout 2020, it was absent from both tabs.

We should ask why.
