on a much sweeter note, jenny slate's little weirds is a very surrealist take on the body and the desires of a woman who struggles with wanting the things we are indoctrinated to want and the pervasive fear that as a feminist she shouldn't want those things
andy davidson's the boatman's daughter is a fantastic novel that i abandoned bc i simply couldn't get hooked in but i know even then that it is an outstanding bit of contemporary gothic that fits here
